1 2

L1-2: Controls and Positioning

Elton Park cul-de-sac is used for first lessons. Quiet, enclosed, with tight estate junctions that teach mirror use and positioning without pressure from passing traffic.

L3-4: Direction Changes and Speed

Marine Parade along the seafront towards Dun Laoghaire pier gives you speed work in a real environment. Pedestrians and cyclists are present but the road is wide enough for confident direction changes.

L5-6: Complex Positioning and Hazards

Sandycove Road introduces the sea wall and parked car combination. One side has no give at all. You learn early to read oncoming vehicles and commit to a position before the gap closes.

L7-8: Sharing the Road and Mixed Users

The Forty Foot area on weekends draws swimmers, tourists, and cyclists all sharing the same narrow coastal road. Lesson seven teaches you to anticipate and hold pace around unpredictable road users.

Driving lessons in Sandycove on coastal roads and tight terraced streets

Sandycove Road follows the coast with the sea wall on one side and parked cars on the other. Meeting oncoming traffic here means one of you pulls in. No room for guesswork, and that is exactly why it builds such good spatial awareness.

Sandycove Avenue East runs inland through terraced housing. Doors open into the road and the gaps between parked cars narrow the lane significantly. Precision parking and width judgement are built here.

Breffni Road is steep. Hill starts with parked cars on both sides require clutch control and positioning that transfers directly to test conditions at Dun Laoghaire.

Marine Parade towards the pier mixes cyclists, pedestrians, and weekend visitors near the Forty Foot. Mixed road user awareness is drilled on this stretch.

Jessica
Jessica took driving lessons with RSA School of Motoring. I passed my test first time after I had my driving lessons with Andy, and I couldn’t recommend him more. He made my driving experience easy and fun, while building my confidence behind the wheel. He is a great man for the chats, which gives extra incentive to continue improving your driving. I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive instructor and feel so lucky to have had my lessons with Andy.

I hadn't driven in 10 years and decided it was time to get back in the car and get my full licence! So I applied for my test and was given a date this November. As I hold my provisional license for so long it was not compulsory for me to have the 12 lessons pre test but I knew it was something I wanted to do anyway. I believed it was the best and fastest way to be fully prepared. I was recommended RSA School of Motoring and so I called and booked in my 12 lessons with a great guy called Aidan. I had lost a lot of confidence since I last drove and had picked up quite a few bad habits!
