Cornelscourt is where you build real confidence

Cornelscourt sits right on the N11. The shopping centre junction is busy all day, and the Hill Road catches learners out with its gradient and blind spots. Our instructors have been teaching on these roads for years.

L1-2: Controls and Positioning

Westminster Road runs quietly through Foxrock with speed ramps and clear sight lines. Lessons one and two use this road for basic clutch control, gear changes, and finding a safe road position before introducing any real traffic pressure.

L3-4: Direction Changes and Speed

Bray Road south from Cornelscourt has a steady rhythm with junctions at regular intervals. Lessons three and four focus on smooth direction changes, signal timing, and managing speed as traffic varies between the junctions.

L5-6: Complex Positioning and Hazards

Kill Lane puts you into close-quarters work. Parked cars, school crossings, and pedestrians walking into the road require early reading and precise positioning. This lesson also covers clutch-controlled forward creep at blind junctions.

L7-8: Sharing the Road and Traffic

The Cornelscourt Shopping Centre approach brings multiple hazards at once. Pedestrians from the car park, traffic pulling in and out, and delivery vans stopping without signal. Lessons seven and eight teach priority reading and patient positioning under pressure.

L9-10: Complex Junctions and Speed Management

Cornelscourt Hill Road is the main event in lesson nine. Hill starts at the N11 junction, judging gaps in fast-moving dual carriageway traffic, and staying calm under pressure. Lesson ten covers N11 lane discipline and the bus lanes that catch learners off guard.

L11-12: Consolidation and Night Driving

Mock test runs go from Cornelscourt through Kill Lane, along the N11 section, and to Dun Laoghaire Test Centre at Pottery Road. Night driving is introduced on Westminster Road and Bray Road where traffic is lighter in the evenings.

Driving lessons in Cornelscourt on the N11 and Hill Road

Cornelscourt Hill Road is steep enough to make hill starts genuinely challenging. Cars come fast off the N11 at the bottom and the right turn back up takes nerve the first few times. We practise this junction until the hesitation is gone.

The shopping centre entrance on the N11 is another test. Traffic approaches from multiple directions and delivery vans create unpredictable stops. Westminster Road offers a quieter start for early lessons. It is a residential link to Foxrock with speed ramps and limited visibility at bends that teaches you to slow and look before committing.

Bray Road runs south through Cabinteely with steady traffic and a handful of junctions that need patience. Kill Lane connects to Deansgrange and has parked cars and pedestrian crossings near school gates that create tight-space observation work.

We meet you at Cornelscourt Shopping Centre car park, the N11 bus stop, or Foxrock Church Car Park on Westminster Road. Female instructors are available on request. Dun Laoghaire Test Centre is eight minutes away at Pottery Road.

EDT manual is €587.95 for 12 lessons. Automatic EDT is €659.24. Pretest with car hire is €183.63 manual or €193.81 automatic. Single Manual lessons are €53.27.

Padraic Crawford
Padraic took driving lessons with RSA School of Motoring. I had Derek for my EDT, and it was an absolute pleasure learning to drive from him. Started my lessons in February, and within four months I had passed first time in dun Laoghaire/deansgrange, genuinely cannot recommend Derek more, outside of being an excellent driving instructor I felt he was a genuinely sound person.

I've recently completed my EDT with instructor Jonathan. I highly recommend the RSA and the instructor. He helped me to feel confident on the road in just 12 hours. He is communicative, helps to understand mistakes and correct them. I’m sure I will be ready for my exam in no time. EDIT: I had several additional lessons with Jonathan in preparation to my exam in Dun Laoghaire.

Ésa Foyle
Ésa took driving lessons with RSA School of Motoring. After finishing my 12 lessons with Jonathan I highly recommend him as a driving instructor. I started off as a very nervous driver but he is so calming that I now have a lot of confidence with driving. He will also be strict with you so that you remember every rule and detail of driving. I am now looking forward to my test in Dun Laoghaire without worry.
