1 2

L1-2: Controls and Positioning

Trees Road provides a quiet start. Speed ramps, parked cars, and a residential pace mean you focus entirely on mirror use, clutch control, and placing the car correctly in the lane before the busier roads come in.

L3-4: Direction and Speed

Wilson Road to Booterstown introduces direction changes and speed management on a narrow tree-lined stretch. The uneven road surface in sections demands smooth steering. You build the habit of reading conditions 100 metres ahead.

L5-6: Complex Positioning and Hazards

Mount Merrion Avenue brings buses, cyclists, and double-parked cars into one stretch. Lessons five and six focus on positioning alongside hazards at speed, identifying escape space, and keeping progress without cutting corners.

L7-8: Sharing the Road and Traffic

Foster Avenue carries UCD student traffic with multiple junctions and a mix of cyclists and pedestrians during term time. Lessons seven and eight teach you to share space at the UCD approach and read the rhythm of a road where traffic behaviour changes throughout the day.

L9-10: Complex Junctions and Speed

The N11 Stillorgan Road is a dual carriageway that runs along the southern edge of Mount Merrion. Joining from Mount Merrion Avenue requires confident acceleration and mirror work. Lessons nine and ten are dedicated to merging, lane discipline, and exiting cleanly.

L11-12: Driving Calmly and Night Driving

The final two lessons extend to Deerpark and the test routes into Deansgrange. A night lesson on Mount Merrion Avenue closes out your 12 hours. Wet road surfaces and reduced visibility in the tree canopy sections sharpen your final preparation.

Zach took driving lessons with RSA School of Motoring. This was a great overall experience, from the booking process through the lessons. John was my instructor in D4/Deansgrange and was absolutely brilliant. During the lessons but also the prep for the test. I couldn’t have been more prepared and no doubt John is the reason I passed on my first try! Highly recommend!
