Highfield Road connects Whitehall to Glasnevin with a steady stream of residential junctions and parked cars to negotiate. You practise signalling correctly for each turn, checking mirrors before every decision, and pacing yourself through the quiet stretches.

Collins Avenue in mid-morning is a lesson in reading developing hazards. Buses pulling out, school pickup zones on the left, and cyclists on the outside all appear in quick succession. Your instructor coaches you through how far ahead to look and when to ease the speed.

Swords Road at a busy hour is a different road entirely. You learn bus lane awareness, how to commit to a lane change without drifting, and how to hold your speed without drifting too close to the bus stops. Homefarm Road runs south as a return leg.

The right turn from Swords Road onto Collins Avenue gets dedicated time in these lessons. Multiple lanes, fast approaching traffic from both directions, and a pedestrian phase all overlap. You practise it until it feels like a routine move rather than a gamble.

Collins Avenue is the road most Whitehall learners know well on foot but find surprisingly busy behind the wheel. Schools along its length bring waves of double-parked cars and pedestrians in the morning. Your instructor meets you at the Whitehall Church car park on Swords Road or at Plunkett College just down the road.
Swords Road is the main challenge. The R132 runs north towards the airport with fast-moving traffic, bus lanes, and a tricky right turn at the junction with Collins Avenue. Getting that junction right is something we return to in nearly every lesson.
Highfield Road and Fergal Road are where first-timers build their footing. Light residential traffic, but the parked cars on both sides keep you thinking about positioning from the start. Homefarm Road links south to Drumcondra and introduces busier junctions once you are ready.
