Templeogue is where you build real confidence

Templeogue Road backs up at the village centre every morning and evening. Cypress Grove Road has a tricky junction with Fortfield Road that catches new drivers out. Templeogue Bridge is narrow and the traffic from both sides never lets up. Residential estates feed onto busy main roads with limited visibility at exits.

L1-2: Controls and Positioning

Lessons one and two use the quiet roads around Bushy Park. The park entrance on Templeogue Road has easy parking and the surrounding streets have low traffic. It gives you the space to learn cockpit controls, steering, and moving off without the pressure of the village centre.

L3-4: Direction Changes and Speed

Cypress Grove Road runs from Templeogue towards Rathfarnham with speed ramps and a school zone creating natural pace breaks. Lessons three and four use this road to build your gear change timing, signal habits, and smooth direction changes on a road with real residential traffic.

L5-6: Complex Positioning and Hazards

Old Bridge Road and the bend over the River Dodder is the hazard focus for lessons five and six. The sharp bend cuts visibility sharply and oncoming traffic appears without warning. Speed control and correct road position before the bend are the skills your instructor will work on here.

L7-8: Sharing the Road and Traffic

Fortfield Road runs east from Templeogue through the Kimmage estate network. Lessons seven and eight put you on this road with its steady local traffic, tight T-junctions, and speed ramps. It builds the observation habits you need for test junctions.

L9-10: Complex Junctions and Speed Management

The Spawell junction is the test in lessons nine and ten. Templeogue Road meets the Tallaght Road and Old Bridge Road here. Multiple lanes, traffic lights, and filter arrows. Your instructor approaches it from every direction until lane selection becomes automatic.

L11-12: Calm Driving and Night Conditions

Wellington Lane adds something different in the final lessons. Narrow with high hedges and blind bends, it teaches slow-speed control and hazard anticipation. Low-light awareness and the full Tallaght test route complete your EDT before test day.

Nilay Guven
I passed my test in Tallaght today! I completed all my lessons with my instructor, Andy O’Shea, just like my husband. I can't thank him enough, as he was so patient and friendly. I never felt nervous during our lessons. I hadn’t driven on the left side before, and Andy taught me all the rules. Now we both have our full licenses, and I’m so thankful!
