Raheny is where you get real-world skills

Raheny is a residential suburb north of the Liffey with good test infrastructure. You're learning near Raheny test centre, which means familiar roads and less travel stress on test day. The driving environment is mixed: Howth Road is a major route with heavy traffic, St. Anne's Park has pedestrian and narrow road practice, and the DART line brings planning challenges. It's practical learning in a real Dublin neighbourhood.

This is where learners prove themselves

Howth Road is your main learning corridor. It's busy, fast, and demands confident speed management and positioning. You'll learn to read traffic flow and merge smoothly. Raheny Road offers a quieter residential alternative for building basics. All Saints Road and Watermill Road teach you to handle tight junctions and parked cars in a residential setting. Harmonstown Road brings open-road practice, and Tonlegee Road is good for speed and planning. St. Anne's Park has pedestrian traffic and narrow passages, so parking and precision matter there. The DART crossings at specific points teach you to plan ahead for level crossings. It's a well-rounded learning environment.

L1-2: Controls and Positioning

Watermill Road and the quieter residential avenues off Raheny Road set the foundation. Parked cars on tree-lined streets teach mirror discipline and left-side positioning before any busy junctions are introduced.

L7-8: Sharing the Road and Traffic Systems

Station Road to Raheny DART introduces the level crossing. Correct approach speed, stopping position behind the line, and reading barrier signals are all covered. Harmonstown Road gives you a second crossing to consolidate the skill.

L9-10: Complex Junctions and Speed

Howth Road at peak times demands sustained speed management, mirror work, and confident merging. Turning across this road at the Raheny village junction is one of the key test skills, and these lessons are built around it.

Driving lessons in Raheny a two-minute drive from the test centre

Howth Road is the main corridor for Raheny lessons. Traffic flows steadily from early morning, with turning movements at Raheny Shopping Centre and the village junctions testing your observation and speed judgement. You learn to read that road properly rather than just tolerate it.

Raheny Road itself is quieter, with pedestrian crossings near the village shops. Good for building your basic junction timing before tackling the busier routes. All Saints Road runs past the school zones, and mornings between 8 and 9 mean double-parked cars, children crossing, and buses stopping in sequence.

Watermill Road is a tree-lined residential avenue with varied parking patterns. Your instructor uses it to vary the lessons and build observation habits beyond just the main roads.

Station Road introduces DART level crossings. Correct stopping position and reading the barrier signals is a specific skill tested in Raheny. Harmonstown Road has a second crossing, so you get plenty of practice.

Pickup from Raheny DART Station, Harmonstown DART, St. Anne's Park, or Raheny Shopping Centre. Female instructors available on request. Primary test centre is Raheny at 4 All Saints Park, 0.5km from the village.

Jennifer took driving lessons with RSA School of Motoring. Could not recommend highly enough. I did a pre Test from Raheny, They were able to accommodate a last minute appointment. The instructer's name was Alan, he was a very good instructer, correcting any of my bad habbits. But my nerves were my biggest issue, and he was very understanding and talked me through them. I was able to face my test more confident in my abilities. Delighted to say, i passed my test.

If you are doing your test in Finglas, LOOK NO FURTHER than Alan who works for the RSA School of Motoring in Finglas. I met him last week and did a pretest with him and I passed my test with flying colours. He showed me absolutely EVERYTHING you need to know when it comes to a driving test - explanation of the grades, goes through the questions of signage/ secondary controls etc, and gives you many many MANY tips along the way. All feedback was extremely constructive, he made me feel very much at ease, built up my confidence and even spent an extra 20 minutes with me more than what I had paid! The man is an absolute gent who is absolutely EXCELLENT in his role of Driving Instructor and got me across the line! Top class, Thanks Alan!

Everything about the service I received from the RSA from the EDTs to my pre-tests, were carried out with the utmost professionalism. I completed my EDTs with Peter around the Finglas test routes. Peter really gave me a strong foundation with my driving experience/ practice. Peter then recommended Kevin for pre-tests around the Tallaght test routes. Kevin gave me amazing tips and advice when it came to my driving preparations. Everything about the service i received from the RSA was exceptional!
