L1-2: Controls and Positioning

Brookwood Road runs through the estate with parked cars narrowing the lane on both sides. You learn to position the car correctly, check mirrors at junctions into cul-de-sacs, and manage clutch control on a flat road without pressure from through-traffic.

L3-4: Direction and Speed

Harmonstown Road has speed ramps spaced closely enough that you need smooth braking and acceleration sequences rather than sharp stops and starts. Getting the rhythm right here teaches throttle control that carries into every other road you drive.

L5-6: Complex Positioning and Hazards

Killester Avenue is tree-lined and narrow with limited passing room. You learn to spot oncoming vehicles early, find the right gap to pull in, and hold position without drifting onto the footpath. Junctions onto the avenue have restricted sightlines from hedges.

L7-8: Sharing the Road and Traffic

Station Road leads to the DART level crossing. You practice reading the warning lights, stopping at the correct position, and giving way when the barriers lift. DART crossings require patience under pressure and that is exactly what the examiner is watching.

L9-10: Complex Junctions and Speed

Tonlegee Road runs north towards Raheny with roundabouts and regular bus traffic. You work on approach speed for roundabouts, correct lane selection, and timing your entry without cutting across the path of circulating vehicles.

L11-12: Calm and Night Driving

The final lessons run from Harmonstown through Killester and up to Raheny Test Centre via the examiner's preferred routes. Night driving on Harmonstown Road tests headlight discipline and reading parked car hazards in the dark. You finish ready for test day.

Driving lessons in Harmonstown beside the DART line and five minutes from Raheny

Harmonstown Road is the backbone of the area. Speed ramps in close succession, parked cars on both sides, and junctions into cul-de-sacs make it busier than it looks. Your instructor picks you up at Harmonstown DART Station, the St. Brendan's Church stop, or the bus stop on Harmonstown Road itself.

Station Road brings a DART level crossing that you will practise on every session until the routine is automatic. The barriers drop frequently at peak hours. Stopping correctly, reading the warning lights, and moving off cleanly when the barriers lift is a skill the test examiner will observe.

Single Manual lessons are €53.27. The 12-lesson EDT pack is €49 per lesson (€587.95 total). The 6-lesson pack is €52.50 per lesson. Automatic is €61.41 single or €54.94 per lesson for the 12-pack. Automatic EDT is €659.24. Pretest with car hire is €183.63 manual or €193.81 automatic.

Female instructors are available. Raheny Test Centre is five minutes away on Tonlegee Road. A Killester test is an additional option, also six minutes.

Marco Vinicio Martinez Barriga
Marco took driving lessons with RSA School of Motoring. I took the 12 EDT Lessons package with Richard in the Finglas Area. He was always looking to help me improve my driving skills. He focuses on telling you were your weaknesses are so you can focus more on them and show him how much you have improved the next time you see him. Really enjoyed all the EDT lessons given by him. Highly recommend instructor.

Gary Smith
If you are doing your test in Finglas, LOOK NO FURTHER than Alan who works for the RSA School of Motoring in Finglas. I met him last week and did a pretest with him and I passed my test with flying colours. He showed me absolutely EVERYTHING you need to know when it comes to a driving test - explanation of the grades, goes through the questions of signage/ secondary controls etc, and gives you many many MANY tips along the way. All feedback was extremely constructive, he made me feel very much at ease, built up my confidence and even spent an extra 20 minutes with me more than what I had paid! The man is an absolute gent who is absolutely EXCELLENT in his role of Driving Instructor and got me across the line! Top class, Thanks Alan!
