12 EDT lessons on Bayside roads
The 12 mandatory EDT lessons happen on Bayside roads. Bayside Boulevard North and Kilbarrack Road are in the mix from lesson one.
L1-2: Car Controls and Positioning
Early lessons use Bayside Boulevard South and the residential side streets. Speed ramps and light traffic give you space to work on clutch control and mirrors before the busier roads arrive.
Learn about EDTL3-4: Direction Changes and Speed
Bayside Boulevard North introduces parked cars narrowing the lane and oncoming vehicles to judge. Changing direction at the boulevard ends means reading the junction and committing cleanly.
EDT detailsL5-6: Complex Positioning and Hazards
Kilbarrack Road carries bus route traffic and has parked cars tightening the lanes. Stopping distances, pedestrian crossings, and bus stops all appear on this road within a few hundred metres.
Test preparationL7-8: Sharing the Road and Traffic
Alden Road connects Bayside to the Howth Road through tight residential streets with poor visibility at junctions. Sharing this road with oncoming traffic and parked delivery vans is real observation practice.
Test preparationL9-10: Complex Junctions and Speed Management
Sutton Cross is the focus. Traffic lights, filter arrows, and heavy traffic from multiple directions. Lane selection on approach and correct give-way after the junction take several sessions to become instinctive.

Final lessons run the full Raheny test centre route from Bayside. Observation checks, right turns on Kilbarrack Road, and a timed run through Sutton Cross to close out the EDT programme.

Bayside Boulevard North is the first road on the list. Wide with a central green strip, but parked cars on both sides bring it down to one effective lane. Learners from the DART side of Bayside know the road well on foot. Behind the wheel is a different story.
Kilbarrack Road connects south to Raheny and carries a steady stream of bus route traffic. It is the kind of road the test examiner uses, so your instructor spends real time here on positioning and observation at junctions.
Sutton Cross is a multi-road junction where the Howth Road, Greenfield Road, and Dublin Road all converge. Lane selection going in and giving way correctly coming out are both tested. Your instructor will approach it from different directions until it feels routine.
Pickup points include Bayside DART Station on Bayside Boulevard, Bayside Shopping Centre car park, and Bayside Senior College on Bayside Boulevard outside school hours. Female instructors are available on request.
