Your 12 EDT lessons on Skerries roads
From Miller's Lane estates to Strand Street to the R132 south. Each lesson takes you further.
L1-2: Controls and Positioning
Basic car control and smooth gearwork. Miller's Lane in the newer estates has speed ramps and gentle corners. It is where first-timers start, building confidence before stepping onto the town centre roads.
Learn about EDTL3-4: Direction Changes and Speed
Turning, changing lanes, and managing speed through a live town. Dublin Road heading south out of town is where you first get comfortable with open road driving and speed limit transitions as you pass the town boundary.
EDT detailsL5-6: Complex Positioning and Hazards
Reading hazards and placing the car correctly on tighter roads. Strand Street seafront is the focus here. Parked cars, wandering pedestrians, and narrow passing gaps teach you to scan ahead and pick your line early.
Test preparationL7-8: Sharing the Road and Traffic
Tractors, cyclists, and oncoming traffic on rural roads. Balbriggan Road runs along the coast north of town with bends and limited visibility. You practise slowing correctly and positioning to give oncoming traffic enough room.
Test preparationL9-10: Complex Junctions and Speed Management
Higher-speed road driving and junction confidence. The R132 south towards Swords is national secondary road driving. Your instructor builds your speed and lane discipline here to match what the examiner expects at Swords Test Centre.
View optionsL11-12: Calm and Night Driving
Final polish and low-light experience. Evening runs down Harbour Road near Red Island keep speeds low and give good visibility practice as the light drops. Manoeuvre practice at the harbour car park rounds out the programme.

Strand Street runs along the seafront in Skerries and it is tight. Parked cars eat into the carriageway, pedestrians step out from between them, and in summer the cafe tables make it tighter still. It is a brilliant road for learning observation and positioning.
We pick up from Skerries Railway Station, Skerries Mills car park, Skerries Harbour, or SuperValu car park on Strand Street. Female instructors are available.
First lessons use the quieter residential estates south of the town centre. From there your instructor moves you to Strand Street for slow-speed work and then Dublin Road for national secondary road driving.
