Inchicore is where you build real confidence

Tyrconnell Road is narrow with cars parked on both sides and buses squeezing through. Emmet Road carries heavy traffic towards Kilmainham and the lights at the junction with Grattan Crescent are slow. Bulfin Road is residential but the speed ramps and parked cars make it a lesson in patience. Inchicore is old Dublin 8, and the roads show it.

EDT driving lessons through Inchicore and Kilmainham

From Bulfin Road speed ramps to Emmet Road junctions. EDT in Inchicore covers the real roads, not a car park.

1 2

L1-2: Controls and Positioning

First lessons take place on the quieter stretch of Bulfin Road near Richmond Barracks. Speed ramps force smooth use of the pedals from the very first session. Mirror checks and road position are established before moving to busier roads.

L3-4: Direction Changes in Tight Streets

Grattan Crescent is used for direction practice in lessons three and four. The crescent shape and parked cars mean constant steering adjustments. The one-way section is introduced carefully, with your instructor explaining the road markings before you drive it.

L5-6: Complex Positioning on Emmet Road

Emmet Road brings real traffic volume. Your instructor focuses on lane positioning and the approach to the South Circular Road junction, where box junctions, filter signals, and cross-traffic all appear at once. Two lessons here build solid junction discipline.

L7-8: Sharing Road Space on Tyrconnell Road

Tyrconnell Road is the hardest road in Inchicore for new drivers. Buses, parked delivery vans, and pedestrians stepping off the Luas. Your instructor coaches you on gap judgment and when to yield versus when to commit and go.

L9-10: Luas Crossings and Speed Management

The Luas Red Line crossings near Goldenbridge are a regular feature of Inchicore driving. Lessons nine and ten cover tram crossings, road markings on Tyrconnell Road, and the faster sections of the Naas Road approach for speed and lane discipline practice.

L11-12: Night Driving and Final Prep

Memorial Road at night is quiet enough to build confidence in low-light conditions. You drive from Inchicore along the Liffey towards Islandbridge, then work back through Emmet Road to simulate the Rathgar test centre approach. Calm, controlled, and ready.

Driving lessons in Inchicore on the tight streets of Dublin 8

Tyrconnell Road is the main street through Inchicore village and it is tight. Parked cars on both sides, buses using the full width, and shops generating constant stop-start traffic. Your instructor picks you up at the Goldenbridge Luas stop or the bus stops on Emmet Road.

Bulfin Road teaches throttle control without you even realising it. Speed ramps every 30 metres, parked residents' cars narrowing the road, and junctions into side streets every hundred metres. You cover it in early lessons when the focus is on smooth driving.

Emmet Road connects Inchicore to Kilmainham and carries through-traffic all day. The junction at the South Circular Road has filter lights and a box junction that catches people out. Your instructor takes you through it until the sequence is second nature.

Memorial Road runs along the Liffey towards Islandbridge. Quiet enough for early lessons but the sharp bend near the war memorial needs care. Grattan Crescent has a one-way section that surprises people the first time.

Female instructors available on request. Rathgar Test Centre is your primary test location, 14 minutes away. Manual from €53.27, 12-pack €49 per lesson, EDT €587.95. Automatic from €61.41. Pretest €183.63 manual, €193.81 auto.

Ruth Jedidja Stael
Ruth took driving lessons with RSA School of Motoring. I’ve had a very positive experience with RSA. Derek is a great driving instructor! My confidence in driving was low after a few negative experiences with other driving instructors but Derek, who is relaxed, informative and extremely patient, helped me pass my test on my first attempt (Tallaght Test centre)! I can’t recommend him enough! I did my lessons in the rathmines/ranelagh area.

Laura
Laura trained with Jonathan. I am taking driving lessons in Rathmines with Jonathan Martínez and I am very happy with him. He is very patient and always with a smile and he gives lots of tips on how to improve. He gives excellent feedback and corrects mistakes in a very professional and supportive way. I appreciate how he also makes positive contributions on what you are doing well, which motivates me. I was scared of driving and with Jonathan I feel safe and in good hands. Very professional, motivated and supportive instructor!

Eimear Bee
I completed my lessons with Richard around the Cabra area in Dublin. He was recommended to me by my partner who passed his driving test the first time with Richard's help! I can't recommend Richard enough. He is thorough, easy to deal with & such a great teacher. I had absolutely no idea about cars and had never driven before. He explains things in a simple, pragmatic way & gave me the confidence I didn't know I had, especially while driving in Dublin city.
