Driving in Cherrywood teaches you the hard stuff

Cherrywood is new roads, Luas crossings, and business park traffic that arrives in waves. The layout is modern but the junctions are tricky. Our instructors teach you how Cherrywood actually works.

1 2

L1-2: Car Controls and Positioning

You start on Cherrywood Avenue where the road is wide, the markings are clear, and there is space to think. Controls, mirrors, and moving off before the roundabouts and tram crossings come into the picture.

L3-4: Direction Changes and Speed

Tully Road is older, narrower, and rougher than the new estate roads. Direction changes here build your feel for the car under different surface conditions. Limited lighting in some sections adds to the challenge as your confidence grows.

L5-6: Complex Positioning and Hazards

The Luas Green Line corridor runs alongside parts of Cherrywood with tram crossings that use their own signal sequence. These lessons drill the routine: read the lights, stop at the correct point, wait without inching forward.

L7-8: Sharing the Road and Traffic

Wyattville Road carries a steady mix of commuter and delivery traffic throughout the day. Business park vehicles merge in waves at peak hours. You learn to hold a clean line and manage your mirrors while the road fills and empties around you.

L9-10: Complex Junctions and Speed Management

The N11 merge at Cherrywood is the speed challenge of the whole EDT. Short slip road, fast motorway-standard traffic, and no second chance once you commit. Your instructor stays alongside until the mirror timing and gap selection click.

L11-12: Calm Driving and Night Conditions

Final lessons start from the Luas Bride's Glen stop car park and move through quieter sections of the development into the evening. Observation quality matters more in lower light. The Dun Laoghaire test routes get a full practice run.

Driving lessons in Cherrywood, from Cherrywood Avenue to Wyattville Road

Cherrywood Avenue is wide and well-marked, built as part of the new development. Fresh road surfaces, clear lane markings, and roundabouts that are still unfamiliar to many drivers. Good for building early confidence, but the Luas tram crossings require focused attention from the start.

Wyattville Road connects Cherrywood to Dun Laoghaire and carries a steady flow of traffic with pedestrian crossings and lights at intervals. Business park vehicles surge at 08:30 and again at 17:30. You learn to read the flow and hold your position in it.

Tully Road is older and noticeably different. Narrow surface, poorer road condition in sections, and limited lighting at night. Good for adjusting to the range of road conditions you will encounter across the test routes.

The N11 exit and merge at Cherrywood is the hardest piece of the area. Short slip roads and fast traffic. Decisive mirror work and confident timing are what the lesson focuses on.

Pickup from Cherrywood Shopping Centre main entrance, Luas Bride's Glen terminus, or Cherrywood Business Park visitor parking. Female instructors available. Manual €53.27 single, €49/lesson 12-pack. EDT €587.95 manual. Pretest €183.63 manual including car hire. Automatic €61.41 single.

Mai took driving lessons with RSA School of Motoring. I just passed my test yesterday in tallaght and I couldn't recommend Andy more!! He was so patient and encouraging, he really made driving feel less daunting - he gives clear instructions, tailors the lessons to fit your needs and ways of learning and most of all he is so passionate about what he does and it really reflects in his compassion and care in every lesson! 10/10!

Andy, Andy, Andy😘, how many times do I have to call your name? You're simply the best! 🎉 I passed my driving test on my first attempt in Navan on September 27th, 2024, and I couldn't have done it without you. You were incredibly supportive throughout my lessons, patient, calm, and understanding, even when I made silly mistakes. Thank you so much for everything! For anyone looking to learn the right way and pass their driving test on the first try, I highly recommend Andy!

I just passed my driving test after completing my lessons with Andy O'Shea. As a beginner, Andy was very patient and encouraging. He was accommodating with times for lessons which was very helpful as I work in healthcare. Going into my test in Tallaght I felt confident about all of the test routes and all of the components of the test. I would not have been able to do it without him and I would have recommend him to all learner drivers!
